All state stevedores (port operators) of Odessa region will be privatized.
This decision was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a general list of objects subject to privatization in 2018-2020, which includes a total of more than 700 enterprises. Among them, it includes all 8 state port stevedores of Odessa region, according to the list, published by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade was instructed to finalize the list in two weeks, taking into account the actual state of the objects, and publish it on its website.
Earlier, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Volodymyr Omelyan, said that for state-owned stevedoring companies concession (long-term lease) is more preferable option than privatization.
At the same time, the Head of the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine Raivis Veckagans spoke in favor of privatization of state stevedores. This process will help to attract investment, save jobs and make the work of stevedoring companies more efficient, - he said.
